Teachers

In addition to programs and materials designed to spark an interest in reading, one of our goals at KHCPL is to help our community’s teachers. We provide a few services that are designed to help teachers shape young minds, so we hope that you find any of the following useful. Please reach out to us at 765-626-0830 if you need additional information.

Scholastic Teachables

Do your kids have e-learning days? Check out Scholastic Learn at Home. Thanks to our friends at Scholastic for supporting education. Scholastic Teachables

Teacher Card

Teacher collection cards are used to check out materials to the teacher specifically for their classroom. A teacher or professional working with children or adults is allowed to check out 30 items and have an extended loan period of 45 days. Overdue fines and replacement fees do not apply to materials checked out through this service. Proof of employment in the taxing district and a valid photo identification is required to receive this card.

Teacher Delivery and Form

We will deliver books to your kindergarten-fifth grade classrooms for FREE! We’ll then pick them up six weeks later. You can also email, call, or fill out the online form linked below to have us put together a collection for you to pick up anytime; we just ask that you give us two days or more to curate your collection.

School Visits/Tours

We offer a variety of tours for local schools to come learn about the library and any of our specific programs, services, or materials. A few standard tours are:

  • Introduction to the library which includes a tour of our Children’s Department, a sneak peek into how we check materials in and out, and the option to have each child receive his/her own library card so that they may check out materials. Appropriate for all ages/grades.

Below are documents outlining field trip options at our various locations

These tours can be customized to fit your audience, your window of time for the visit, and any specific content you would like your students to see. Please email csd@khcpl.org or call 765-626-0830 if you’re interested in scheduling your class or grade for a visit.

Databases and E-Access

We offer a large variety of databases that can be greatly beneficial to students and classrooms as an educational resource. Resources like Scholastic Go contain immense amounts of content and teach students how to use scholarly databases at an early age. Most of these are unlocked with a library card, so we can work with your school to help secure an e-access card that will allow students to access databases during school.
