Newsletter and Social Media Policy
KHCPL print and electronic newsletters have the primary purpose of informing the public about library programs, materials, and services. Our social media accounts serve the same informational purposes but also offer opportunities for conversation, interaction, and demonstration of the library’s value to those with whom we connect. One of the ways we add value to community members’ lives is to provide relevant information on a broad range of current topics of interest. Each means of communication will be issued on a schedule that is as timely as practicable.
In order to maintain a role as an integral part of the community, the library will share select information regarding community organizations, businesses, and events, as outlined below.
Print Newsletter: One Community Connections piece may appear in each print newsletter, space allowing. Organizations may apply for the spot by submitting a form which is available from the Main Administration office or on the library’s website. Priority will be given to events that are open to all community members, have a broad-based impact, and/or offer enriching experiences for attendees. Events will be selected by library Administration.
Electronic Newsletter: Up to two Community Connections pieces may appear in each electronic newsletter. The event featured in the print newsletter may be one of these, as may other events submitted through the form referenced above and deemed suitable by library Administration.
Social Media: Local events or information of interest to library users may be mentioned through the library’s social media accounts. Events should be compatible with the library’s mission and user base. All posts, regardless of content, should be free of prejudicial language or discriminatory statements and should aim to avoid any area that would harm the library’s reputation or interfere with its effectiveness.
